Alabama has fired head coach Howard Mills after he was put on paid leave a month ago. Mills was put on leave because he paid athletes at Alabama money. And after awhile, it was evident that the Alabama leadership would end up firing him. Alabama made this statement:”We have decided to move our porgram forward without Coach Mills. We want to thank him for what he has done in Tuscaloosa.” Alabama will interview Arkansas Defensive Coordinator Chris Plemons, Florida Atlantic Head Coach AJ Justice, and Texas Defensive Coordinator Scott Perriman to be its next head coach.
South Carolina has fired head coach Drew Shuttles after six seasons. Shuttles appeared in the NCAA Tournament once (2019) during his tenure. But after a terrible 2019-2020 season, the South Carolina leadership decided it was time to find someone new. South Carolina made this statement:”While we have decided to fire Coach Shuttles, we want to thank Coach Shuttles for his time in Columbia. We want to wish him the best in the future.” South Carolina will interview Arkansas Defensive Coordinator Chris Plemons, Atlanta Offensive Coordinator Chris Jackson, Texas Offensive Coordinator Jackson Gregory, and TCU Offensive Coordinator Lee Johnson to be their next head coach.
Purdue fired head coach Matt Bernard after eight seasons. Purdue issued this statement: “While we have decided to fire Coach Bernard, we want to thank Coach Bernard for his time in West Lafayette. We want to wish him the best in the future.” Purdue is expected to meet with former Duke head coach John Painter, and hire him at some point tonight or tomorrow.
The NCAA and TN have decided to move on from the baseball format with college throwball for the 2020-2021 season. Changes will be discussed at 2020 Spring TN Meetings May 2-May 9.
