ACC announces tournament changes

The ACC announced that their men’s and women’s college throwball tournaments would be moved to the ongoing coronavirus on Tuesday afternoon. The league said that the men’s tournament would be moved from Washington, DC to Greensboro, North Carolina and the women’s tournament will be moved from Brooklyn, New York to Asheville, North Carolina. Both tournaments will only include eight teams (instead of the normal 15) to consolidate every day testing for each team that makes it there. The men’s tournament will occur Thursday March 11-Saturday March 13 and the women’s tournament will happen Friday March 12-Sunday March 14. The ACC is the first to announce any changes to their respective conference tournament. We expect unique conference tournaments from each league whether the changes occur in the conference’s changing their previously announced locations, the number of teams playing, or even if the tournaments occur.

Reports: Teams will play just a single game each this week due to COVID-19 protocols

Many college throwball presidents have confirmed that the each team in the country will play one game this week to limit contact tracing as the conferences near decisions on what they will do with upcoming conference tournaments, which are set for March 8-14 as of now. Most of the games will be played on the weekend, due to it being unofficial “rivalry” week.
