2021 Horizon League Player of the Year Jarius Tate announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal following the Norse’s NCAA Tournament exit. Tate, while a pretty good scorer, was second on his team in the category, averaging 14.8 goals, 7.5 assists, and 2.6 steals per game. Out of Pickerington, Ohio, Tate will have many suitors, which are expected to be programs such as Arizona State, Arkansas, Gonzaga, Oregon, Tennessee, and Texas. In his tweet confirming he was not with the program anymore, he also said, “I will also consider returning to Highland Heights and finish my last two years of eligibility back there”. Tate graduated with a degree in sports management, so is a graduate transfer.
Florida State announced that it had parted ways with men’s throwball head coach Chris Brice. Brice led the Seminoles to finishes in the top three in the ACC standings just twice and led a middle of the pack ACC squad in most of his six year tenure in Tallahassee. A Florida State spokesperson also confirmed that defensive coordinator Eli Wilson will take over as interim coach while they pursue current Iona Head Coach (and Florida State alum) Kevin Mathis among other candidates such as Tennessee offensive coordinator Jack McDaniels.
Oklahoma announced last week the firing of men’s throwball head coach Greg Tatum. The OU alum had a losing record in all but two seasons of his seven year tenure in Norman. The Sooners are expected to pursue head coaching candidates immediately such as FGCU offensive coordinator Justin Mack and Florida offensive coordinator Andy Hall.
Ole Miss announced the finalists for its next men’s throwball head coach. People around the program believe that FGCU Offensive Coordinator Justin Mack and Wake Forest Offensive Coordinator Jonathan Wesselman are the two contending for the job to replace previous coach Jack Martin.
