FAU names former South Carolina coach Shuttles next head man

Florida Atlantic has formally announced USC offensive coordinator Drew Shuttles as its next head coach. After six seasons in Columbia, Shuttles was fired by South Carolina. Months later, he was then hired by Southern California to be its next offensive coordinator. Shuttles will succeed AJ Justice as head coach, who took the Arizona State job recently. Two FAU players who entered the transfer portal, guard Jeff Young and forward Miles Mitchell are set to rejoin the program after his hiring. USC has promoted big men coach and assistant offensive coach Matt Reid to be its next offensive coordinator.

Former Iona guard Matt Jordan will join his old coach, Kevin Mathis, at Florida State. Jordan, Iona’s leading scorer in 2021, was a first-team All-MAAC contributor this past season. Fellow Iona transfer, forward Denzel Griffin, has yet to make up his mind on where he will be playing the rest of his college eligibility.

North Carolina freshman big man Dee Embiid has officially entered the 2021 NTBL Draft. Embiid will sign an agent, so he will cannot return to college in 2021. He averaged 12.6 goals and 7.9 rebounds per game during the 2020-2021 season.
