Head of AAU Throwball says “it is best to cancel 2020 AAU Spring Lake Major End of Summer High School Tournament to get high school teams ready for regionals”, Emmert says regionals will be hosted by top overall seed

The Head of AAU Throwball John McGee told the media today it is best to cancel 2020 AAU Spring Lake Major End of Summer High School Tournament to get high school teams ready for regionals” regarding what would have been the final AAU tournament of high school throwball’s inaugural season with the format in place. “It is best to get high school teams ready to play in this 40 team tournament” McGee continued. High School Throwball Off-Season Regionals is the annual tournament where the top 40 high school throwball programs battle it out to determine a champion. The obvious difference this year, is that regionals is the lone time where high school programs are playing instead of the AAU teams. But the President of High School Throwball Matt Emmert stated this regarding the regionals scheduled for August 1-14, “When the 2020 High School Throwball Off-Season Regionals are seeded on Sunday July 31, the top overall seed will get to host the entire tournament due to coronavirus concerns. If the team hosting is a coronavirus “hotspot” it will be moved to the closest location we can find under short notice. We are sad that only one school gets to host this great annual event but excited to see another great tournament.”
