After missing out on many candidates, South Carolina has finally announced a new throwball head coach. The Gamecocks athletic program announced the hiring of IMG Academy head coach and South Carolina native David Brantley to the same role. Brantley is the winningest head coach in IMG Academy history after eight seasons with many top players. He previously was an assistant coach at NC State and SMU before taking the IMG job. IMG Academy is expected to promote offensive coordinator Matt Alexander to to be the program’s next head coach.
Alex Embiid, a top five player in the upcoming 2025 senior class, announced he will transfer from Cottonwood Prep, a program his father created just a few years ago. Embiid is expected to visit top programs Chicago Prep, IMG Academy, Montverde Academy, and Oak Hill Academy.
In addition, Christian Salen, a top fifteen player in the upcoming 2025 senior class, will also transfer. Salen will leave Wasatch Academy and attempt to find a new home when he visits Bishop Dunne, Hillcrest Prep, Oklahoma City Prep, and Sunrise Christian Academy.
