Fred Jackson named new Arkansas head coach

Texas Head Coach Fred Jackson will be hired to the same position at his alma mater. Jackson accepts a five-year contract to go to Fayetteville. Jackson will retain current Arkansas Offensive Coordinator Hall Hucks. Current Arkansas Defensive Coordinator Chris Plemons is still mulling an offer to be the next Alabama Head Coach. Texas will likely go a whole different direction with their second coaching search in four years. Top candidates for the job in Austin include Florida Atlantic Head Coach AJ Justice, Iona Head Coach Kevin Mathis, Texas Offensive Coordinator Jackson Gregory, and Texas Defensive Coordinator Scott Perriman. Texas Guards Ahmad Grace, Fred Jackson Jr. Russell Martin, and Russ Calloway have announced they are entering the transfer portal. Texas Forwards Jamison Thomas and Jude Hughes will also enter the portal.
