At the age of 3 he was diagnosed with leukemia.Ben Morgan was a three year old with cancer, but he definitely had something happy to help him through the tough times.It was the golden era of Texas throwball.”Texas” was the first word he said as that was where his parents met.The two years he was in the hospital Texas went 60-0 during the regular season winning two Big 12 championships both over Baylor.His last chemo therapy was the day that Texas beat Naples to win the National Championship.After going through remission, Ben was cancer free.He wanted to be a college throwball player himself.He was the first player at Allison High School in Nashville to make the varsity team as a ninth grader in a long time.He was ranked last in the 2017 rankings, until he got his first start to open his Junior campaign in 2015.Ben lit up the scoreboard moving all the way up from number 122 to 32 in just a month.He had offers from almost any power conference school you could think of.Just not one from Texas.It was his last game at the high school level as they took on Knoxville Prep led by five-star Point Guard Alonzo James.James had already committed to Naples.Morgan led Allison to its first state championship since DeVontae Christian led them.Matt Hadley,Texas’ Head Coach at the time, had come to the game.He offered Ben a full ride scholarship to Texas, and Ben signed the next day.

Led by Senior Small Forward Reed Michael (3SF,6OV),thirty-eight goals,4.Highland Park defeats 9.CAC 87-80.Seniors C.J. Williams (2PG,7OV) (35 goals),and Reynoldson Parker (3PF,27OV) (22 goals,12 rebounds) came up seven goals short.4.Highland Park moves to 8-3 on the year,and 9.CAC falls to 7-4.
