2022 TN NTBL Mock Draft 1.0
The fifth ranked player in the 2023 TN 25, and the number three ranked point guard, Zion Payne has announced his intentions to transfer from Toledo High School. He will be transferring to Dallas power Bishop Dunne, who just appeared in the 2021 Midwest Regional Final in the 2021 Off-Season Regionals, its first ever appearance in a regional final. Payne also announced the final 11 options in his college sweepstakes. 1.Due to the coronavirus, both men’s and women’s collegiate players will each get another free year of eligibility.
2.Under normal circumstances, players transferring a second time will have to sit out a full season. But due to the upcoming season being a “free year” every player in the country will be eligible to play.
3.The 2021 High School Throwball Off-Season Regionals have been moved up from beginning August 2 to Monday July 5 this year. All succeeding off-season regionals will also be played the Monday following July 4 every year.
4.High School Throwball exhibition games can be played up until then.
After an incredible four year career at Yale, Point Guard Victor Moore will spend his final year of eligibility elsewhere, he announced on his Instagram account. Moore has incredible offensive ability and is an always improving perimeter defender. The New York City native is set to look at many schools including Duke, Kansas State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Tennessee, and UCLA. Moore averaged 25.6 GPG during his four-year career as well as an improving 4.2 APG.
UCLA Freshman Guard Jabari Williams and Kansas Freshman Forward Xion Thompson will both enter the 2021 NTBL Draft. Both will retain their college eligibility by not signing with an agent.
Florida Senior Forward Quinn Gee signed with the Richmond Eagles’ NTBL G-League affiliate, the Blacksburg Ravens. Gee considered opting into his extra year of eligibility due to COVID-19, but decided to head to the pros.
Vanderbilt has named Wake Forest offensive coordinator Jonathan Wesselman its next head coach, the school announced on Friday. Wesselman ran a successful offense at Wake Forest the past few seasons. Wake Forest will replace him with Jack Charles, the Demon Deacons’ longtime staffer.
FGCU has named Little Rock Bucks’ staffer Ben Nelson its next offensive coordinator. Nelson helped coach three NTBL Championship teams in Little Rock during his eight seasons with the Bucks.
Apart of Florida Atlantic’s top 15 recruiting class before then-head coach AJ Justice was hired to the same position at Arizona State, to be freshmen Jeff Young (PG) and Michael Johnson (13SF) will both enter the transfer portal but will entertain returning to Boca Raton when the new head coach is hired. Both enrolled in January before Justice’s exit. Florida Atlantic seniors Mike James (PG) and Josh Manning (PF/SF) have entered the 2021 NTBL Draft. James came to FAU after graduating and transferring from Tennessee and Manning played a five-year career in Boca Raton after getting an extra year due to a torn ACL, then becoming the leading rebounder in Owl history.
Former Northern Kentucky wing Jarius Tate has announced his commitment to Arkansas. With the free year of eligibility, Tate will have up to two years of eligibility left in Fayetteville. Tate is the number three ranked transfer per our rankings and chose the to call the hogs over going to Tennessee.
Former Connecticut Point Guard Mikel White has announced his intentions to transfer to Oregon and has officially pulled out of the 2021 NTBL Draft . He also talked with coaching staffs at Tennessee and Texas. White has three years of eligibility left due to the free year of eligibility due to COVID-19.
Syracuse Offensive Coordinator Leonard Johnson has been named the next head coach at Kentucky. Johnson will be replaced by Greg Lee, who has excelled as Syracuse’s guard coach.
Michigan Guards Devin Powell and Clyde Bozeman have both entered the 2021 NTBL Draft. Both have signed with agents, keeping them from returning to Ann Arbor. Devin’s brother Donavan has entered the transfer portal with up to four years of eligibility left.
